Lawrence Marcus Remembered in Dallas

Lawrence Marcus was extolled as a man of brilliant ideas, intense curiosity and exceptional taste Monday afternoon at a memorial service at the Dallas Museum of Art attended by friends, family and past and present Neiman Marcus executives“He was the final link to a generation of retail visionaries as the last surviving son of Herbert Marcus and the nephew of Carrie Marcus Neiman, the founders of the store, a place that has been the pride of Dallas for over 100 years,” said Karen Katz, chief executive office of Neiman Marcus Group.

H&M Opening High-Tech Flagship in Times Square

H&M’s 42,000-square-foot flagship at 4 Times Square takes the notion of high tech to the next level. Daniel Kulle, president of H&M North America, said the flagship will be the company’s most productive store in North America once it opens at 12:01 a.m. Thursday with an appearance by Lady Gaga, who is expected to interact with customers and shop at the store for several hours.H&M had better produce high sales in the new store. According to real estate sources, the demand for Times Square retail space has pushed asking rents for some spaces to $2,500 a square foot, making it among the priciest real estate in the city.

Prada and Wes Anderson Team Up for ‘Prada Classics’

Prada has teamed up with film director Wes Anderson to unveil the third chapter of its Prada Classics,” which explores different cultural fields such as art, architecture and cinema. Anderson directed an eight-minute short movie, called “Castello Cavalcanti,” which will be shown for the first time on Wednesday at the Rome Film Festival.Filmed in Rome’s Cinecittà, the movie, which is set in 1955, starts with the main character, played by Jason Schwartzman, arriving in a tiny Italian village where he crushed his car against a statue of Jesus.

Rag & Bone Names Michael Tucci Managing Partner

Michael Tucci has joined Rag & Bone in the newly created role of managing partner, effective today. Tucci will oversee strategy and operations and report to David Neville, Marcus Wainwright and Rag & Bone’s board, of which he will be a member. Tucci has more than 20 years of retail merchandising and operations experience, most recently at Coach Inc., where he was group president, North America, overseeing all retail, wholesale and e-commerce.
