I thought that nothing could be as bad as being caught out in the cold, waiting for the new H&M collection to be released, or worse, trying to go there during your lunch break. The pushing crowds, feeling so hot in your winter coat and awkwardly trying to take it off without being trampled, the try-as-they might salespeople that I still have a rising urge to harm. I would trade it all in a heartbeat in exchange for getting dressed for holiday get-togethers.

It’s not that I hate dressing up (I love it), it’s just always such a pain to dress extra nice for work and to constantly hear, “well, what’s the occasion?” In the time between mid-November and New Years; every day is a special occasion. But no worries! I have some simple and cute dresses that will work from the office to meeting the parents at Thanksgiving dinner.

Let’s start with the dress: always stick to the simple silhouettes. Sheath and A-line dresses are always an easy go-to. You can dress them up or down with minimal effort, plus, they accentuate everyone’s shape. I am a firm believer of having a bigger bag or keeping an accessories/jewelry stash at your desk. That way, you can make a quick change at the end of the day. So, of course it helps to have a cute purse. Structured shapes or ladylike accents are always a charming addition.

Classic shoes are always a must. T-strap or flats look great this season, and you don’t have to worry about falling on ice. They’re both work appropriate, and bonus points if they’re metallic! And even if your ensemble is pretty basic, you can always jazz it up with a cute pair of patterned tights.

Have fun at your parties (and save me a piece of cake)!
