Vogue Paris Guest Edited by Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham was chosen to be the guest editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris’ Christmas edition, which hits newsstands today. The designer and her husband appear on two versions of the cover, lensed by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The issue’s contents were curated by Beckham and include profiles of Valentino Garavani, Anish Kapoor, and Diana Ross. An interview with Beckham by Marie Darrieussecq is also a prominent feature. Emmanuelle Alt, editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, said: “We handed over the running of this issue to a woman who, throughout our working together, has proved to be the exact opposite of her public image. She is spontaneous, with a great sense of humor, humble yet at the same time driven by a healthy ambition.”
“Working with Emmanuelle Alt and her team was both exciting and inspiring and I am so proud of what we have created,” said Beckham. Guest editors are an annual tradition for French Vogue, and past editors include Tom Ford, Kate Moss, and Sofia Coppola. This issue also marks the launch of Vogue Paris’ interactive digital edition for the iPad.
Alexander Wang Debuts Updated Website
Alexanderwang.com’s new look was unveiled today. This is its first major update since launching in July 2011. “We started e-commerce before we had our first retail store. It was one of our first big ventures as a brand,” Alexander Wang said. The designer described his new site as minimal, functional, easy to navigate, and engaging. Sales from the site currently make up 20 percent of the company’s business, but Wang predicts the website to become the biggest contributor by 2015. Not surprisingly, handbags are the strongest-selling category on the website.
