You’re not going crazy. There’s a reason why you’ve been seeing a certain purple show up in the most unexpected of places. Pantone named their color of the year and it’s a very particular color. So for 2014, you can be sure to pick up anything with Pantone 18-3224, better known as ‘Radiant Orchid’. This universally flattering color is  popping up in home furnishing, beauty and of course, fashion.

“Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” A blend of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones work for everything and anything you have on without being overpowering the whole ensemble. You can add the color as an accent using your accessories or jewelry… or find a dress, tunic or skinny pants sporting the newly-popular hue. Neither is out of your realm. As for the rules of sporting this flattering color? There are none. Find your own way to sport the color of the year!
