Kristen Stewart captured the character Bella Swan on the big screen as the girl next door who at the end ends up with the guy of her dreams, Edward Cullen. Now this is not Twilight but if Karl Lagerfeld is the one to get the attention of, well Kristen Stewart has done it again. Even with all the attention brought up in 2012 by her famous cheating scandal with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. The creative director for Chanel and Fendi has not lost interest in her yet, asking her to be the new face of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art pre-fall collection. The collection was seen Tuesday night in Dallas. However, images of Stewart for the collection will not be revealed until May 2014. The two have had past projects, one being a photo shoot in January 2012. Could that have been the day that Lagerfeld knew Stewart was going to be the new It girl? He has had partnerships with other edgy women in the business as well.
Cyrus is known for her surprising actions that no person really knows what she is going to do next. One of these being at the MTV European Music Awards she pulled out what looked to be a joint-like cigarette out of a Chanel clutch. However, just a week before that incident Lagerfeld was posing at the Museum of Modern Art’s Film Benefit with Cyrus’s “Bangerz” cd. Recently Cyrus was seen with a new Anna Wintour-esque hairdo and when asked, “what are you wearing?” on the red carpet Cyrus often replys with, “Chanel.” Maybe it’s her risque actions that has gotten Lagerfeld’s attention?
Cara Delvingne is known to the teenagers as the model who was linked to the One Direction singer, Harry Styles. For instagram fanatics she is considered Instafamous (having more then four million followers) and is seen in the modeling world as the British bushy-brow model who goes against her agency when it comes to tattoos. But it seems that the rebellious girl only got Lagerfeld’s attention even more. Delevingne has become the face of Chanel’s 2013 Cruise campaign, and also walked in the Spring 2014 Paris fashion show. These two can even be seen on her Instagram posing in a picture side-by-side.
The true It girl for British modeling has also grabbed the attention of Lagerfeld once. Having their diet habits in common and Kate Moss even saying, “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” She was however dumped from Chanel’s fragrance campaign in 2005 when pictures surfaced of the model snorting cocaine, but since that incident Moss has made a comeback but her future as face for Chanel is still not a go.
Chan Marshall (Cat Power) in the past has been in the tabloids connecting her with substance abuse, but that has not stopped the Indie singer from bringing inspiration to the mind of Lagerfeld. She even was in a Chanel jewelry campaign in October 2006, after meeting with Lagerfeld while waiting outside smoking a cigarette, talk about not the best way to meet the mind behind Chanel. That did not turn Lagerfeld off though, Power said in an intreview with WWD, “He walks up, looks at me and says, ‘Only a woman can look glamorous when smoking.’” Along with the jewelry campaign Power sang at Lagerfeld’s Spring 2007 fashion show and also has been the photographer shooting Power for Purple magazine.
Gone fashion star Lily Allen, who was first made famous in the music business was the face of a Chanel campaign after talking to Lagerfeld about a pair of green-heeled shoes while intoxicated at a party in Paris. Could it be Allen’s mod, unconventional style that sparked the creative director’s attention? Recently Allen’s fashion label went under, could this mean maybe a partnership in the future with Lagerfeld himself?
Alexa Chung is known as a TV host but now you may recognize her as one of Lagerfeld’s muses. She was seen at Paris Fashion Week in Chanel’s Spring 2014 show and also was a part of “The Little Black Jacket: Chanel Classic Revisited,” book and exhibit. It seems that she is the voice of the fashion outsider, and that could be why Lagerfeld has such a love for her.
