Ouch. So far, this harsh winter has taken a toll on my hands. They are dry, chapped and my cuticles look like hell. So I have taken it upon myself to do some research and try every hand cream I can literally get my hands on. Here are my 5 picks for the best hand creams;

Available at most drugstores, Curel Targeted Hand & Cuticle Therapy Cream instantly provides relief that continues to last even through a few hand washings! While traditional lotions only hydrate skin’s surface, Curel moisturizers work at the source of dryness to replenish skin’s ceramide levels. – not just relieving symptoms, but actually improving skin performance. It’s formulated with soy milk, monoi oil and vitamin E, so it not only leaves your hands super soft, but helps prevent broken nails by strengthening cuticles.

Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie Hand Cream not only smells yummy…it works! Shea & Cocoa butters deeply moisturize so hands stay soft and smooth and Açai Berry Extract helps protect skin from environmental agers. “My husband gave me a surprise almond cookie as a gift one day and said it was ‘just because.’ This soft, warm and soothing scent captures the feeling you get when someone surprises you just to let you know you’re loved. It’s been our most popular fragrance since 1994; everyone loves it and can’t get enough.” – Lisa Price, Carol’s Daughter Founder. I’m inclined to agree.

C.O. Bigelow No. 1012 Chapped Hands Remedy appears to be my husband’s favorite and for good reason. This non-greasy, medicated formula heals and hydrates ultra-dry hands with high levels of super-hydrating concentrated glycerin (40.3%).T he scent is not girly or offensive and the cream works to prevent future chapping, guarding hands against dry, cold and windy conditions.
A perennial favorite, L’Occitane Hand Cream, comes in several scents so there is one for everyone. The collection of ultra luxurious hand creams are enriched with nourishing shea butter which penetrate the skin quickly to protect, moisturize, and rehydrate. Each formula contains 20% shea butter and other naturally nourishing ingredients like honey, almond, grape seed, and coconut oil for soft, beautiful hands. Besides using it myself, I love giving this hand cream as gifts. It’s that good.

OK, so Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream isn’t ‘technically’ a hand cream. It’s an everything cream! This iconic “miracle cream” relives chapped, cracked dry skin and soothes and comforts redness, minor scrapes and abrasions. It has earned a permanent spot on my night stand because it is truly the last thing I reach for before turning out the light. I not only apply this skin brilliant multi-tasker to my hands, but also to my lips and feet. I then awake to super-soft skin. I don’t think I will ever want to go through another winter without it!
