Alexander Wang to Show in Brooklyn

Alexander Wang has announced he will be presenting his runway show on February 8 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Before now, no designer has asked guests to cross the East River and it will be interesting to see if there are any complaints. It’s hard enough running around Manhattan during the stressful week! At least Wang will be showing at the end of the day, so editors and buyers don’t have to rush back to Manhattan to catch another show. This is one of the most highly anticipated runway shows of Fashion Week, so no doubt it will be packed even with the location change. “We found this incredible space, and it corresponds very well to this season’s creative concept,” Wang said about the venue, the Duggal Greenhouse. Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors have also opted not to show at the tents at Lincoln Center.

Printemps to Expand

French department store Printemps will be acquired by a group of Qatari investors this summer and is set to expand. The plan is to acquire a 70% stake from Deutsche Bank’s RREEF and 30% from Italy’s Borletti Group. “Our new investors are very committed to making Printemps an icon in luxury retailing,” said Printemps chairman and CEO Paolo de Cesare. He also said Printemps has “long-term potential, good track record and growing leadership position in luxury retail, not only in France and Europe, but worldwide.” The retailer is now targeting cities in France to build more stores. In addition, there is a new flagship in Strasbourg, which opened last Saturday.

Dakota Fanning Fronts Uniqlo

Uniqlo has tapped actress Dakota Fanning and singer-songwriter Tom Odell to star in their spring campaign. Wearing pieces from the new collection, the duo looks fresh and natural. The campaign focuses on the brand’s basic looks including jeans, polo shirts and blazers. Fanning, who is 19, has starred in more than 25 films. Odell, 22, won the Brits Critics’ Choice award in 2013 and his debut album was number one in the U.K.
