Carol Ramsey Designs for Hotel

Carol Ramsey costume creator for the show “Magic City” is now taking her dressing ways to the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach in Miami. The hotel is already in a $150 million renovation, so new uniforms for the employees are a must. Ramsey took her Fifties inspiration from the show and brought it to the uniforms. Some outfits men will be wearing include slim lapel suits, button-down shirts with bestrides and trim slant-pocket pants. The women will wear scoop neck pencil dresses with cinched waists and bubble dresses with bead detailing. Add strands of pearls and classic Manolo Blahnik pumps and they’re set. “Sophisticated and sexy” were the instructions given to Ramsey, and by the sketches that is exactly what she did.

New President, New Look

Marigay McKee, Saks Fifth Avenue President, has announced over the next two years a $1.25 billion refurbishing will take place in hopes of expanding their audience and price ranges. McKee wants to see Saks’ clientele move beyond their 48 year old women core without losing her. She wants to modernize the franchise and keep that elegant emporium they are known for. Saks will also add exclusive merchandise because department stores are looking too much alike with the same items from the same brands. For all the college fashion fanatics, McKee want to open their doors to a younger costumer too. With plans to focus attention on cities populated with college students and young professionals, Saks will add contemporary fashions and international designers.
