The Chanel spring 2014 haute couture presentation was nothing less than what we expect from the creative director and head designer Karl Lagerfeld. One thing everyone looks forward to is the staging for the show. This year included a staircase which was part of a revolving set. Walking down stairs with heels can be daring, but no worries for the models this year. The models wore sneakers?! However, these were not your ordinary Nike kicks. The bespoke shoe from the house of Massaro was made from python skin accessorized with lace, tweed and pearls. Each pair of the Chanel sneakers reportedly took 30 hours to make, and came in three colors: pale pink, white and black. The apparel this season showed emphasis on the waistline. The collection was described as girlish and youthful; with skirts just above the knee and pastel color palette fabrics of tweed, tulle and organza. In the bridal finale the lead model was none other than Cara Delevingne. Delevingne was escorted by Lagerfeld’s 5 year old godson Hudson Kroenig in a gown that featured elaborate embroidery. It looks like Chanel is still two things: innovative and fabulous.
