How many good things have you heard from Detroit lately? Not many? Well, we are happy to deliver some exciting news from the down-on-her-luck Midwestern city. Shinola, the timepiece and leather goods maker, is bringing hundreds of jobs and infinite good vibes to Detroit.
Shinola was founded in 2011 by timepiece guru Tom Kartsotis—who started Fossil in 1984—when he opened a watch factory in Detroit. Since then they have provided over 200 jobs and are hiring new employees every month. With a new leather goods factory opening next door to their watch factory, Shinola is also expanding the scope of its product line. Take a look at their beautiful watches for men and women, leather goods, jackets, bicycles and more!
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day and doing good, Shinola has launched a #SayNiceThings campaign. The campaign promotes being kind and courteous on social media platforms in the age of cyber-bullying. As part of the campaign, we wrote kind things on seed paper at the Shinola flagship store in Tribeca. The seed paper will be planted in a Shinola-sponsored dog park in Detroit and will bloom this spring. Take a look at what we wrote…too corny? Either way, we want to #SayNiceThings about Shinola watches and leathers.
