Ralph Lauren Reveals Polo for Women
Ralph Lauren has never offered women’s under the Polo label but things are about to change. Today, Lauren will open his fall runway show with the unveiling of 25 looks from his new women’s Polo Ralph Lauren brand. However, when it comes to this line it is not considered a lower-priced collection. A basic knit top starts at $89, while leather leggings are $998. The collection will feature extra details like: plaids, florals, suedes, Navajo prints and more. Fans will have to wait to purchase a piece from his new collection. The line is set to debut when Lauren opens a new Polo store at 711 Fifth Avenue this fall.
DVF Names Michael Herz Artistic Director
It has been announced that Michael Herz will be appointed artistic director of Diane von Furstenberg. Working closely with the designer, Herz will help with promotion, direction and design of the legendary DVF brand. Helping with the creative oversight of ready-to-wear and accessories, licensee design, global advertising campaigns, store design and special projects are also included in Herz’s list of duties.
Unveiling of the LVMH Prize Finalists
Designers set to show in London starting Friday will face a second round of scrutiny come Paris Fashion Week. They are among 30 semifinalists for the inaugural LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize. The designer prize will include a grant of $409,750 (300,000 euros) and a full year of coaching. A total of 1,221 inspiring designers applied and now only 30 remains. At the end of May, the top 10 finalists will present a 20 minute presentation to a judging panel of design stars like: Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, and many more.
