Brian Atwood’s Madison Avenue boutique has closed after only two years. A store rep explained the store had been closed for a few weeks and is unsure of what the future holds. Sources say the closing of the boutique is the result of a deal that Atwood’s parent company, The Jones Group, would be taken over by financial firm Sycamore Partners. Jones Group may be under pressure to divest underperforming ventures before the deal closed. Reps for Sycamore had no comment and Atwood has not answered back. Last week, Jones Group shuttered Rachel Roy’s clothing line, in which it had a 50 percent stake.
