It’s been a year and a half since I lost my makeup bag on a flight. While I have been able to replace nearly everything I loved (including my makeup bag) the concealer stick was the one thing that confounded me. Laura Mercier no longer manufactures the one I adored and I have had a hell of a time testing and trying, but never finding an adequate replacement – until now. The biggest surprise is that it’s from the drugstore. OK, at least it’s the biggest surprise to me. Well, not really because what losing my makeup bag taught me is to learn how to shop for makeup in a drugstore. Anyway, the new concealer stick that has found a permanent home in my bag is CoverGirl’s TruBlend FixStick Concealer.
This Fixstick concealer is designed to camouflage redness, dark circles and blemishes. It’s actually opaque enough to hide what you want hidden and yet light enough to blend. Now I really don’t have dark circles, so I can’t speak to how it covers those, but for covering a blemish or masking some redness, this concealer in unparalleled. It is meant to match your foundation and comes in six shades. I use it on the areas where my foundation doesn’t quite cut it, like around my nose. I also love, love, love that I don’t need a sharpener – simply twist the bottom of the pencil and voila! I find myself reaching for my FixStick quite a bit. You will too.
