It’s no secret that many (most?) Vogue readers were unpleasantly surprised when the fashion glossy put Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on its April cover. It has now leaked that Vanity Fair and Harper’s Bazaar were gunning for a Kim Kardashian cover as well. Ugh. The reality star was in serious talks since the fall with Bazaar, where she was to cover the February issue. Then Anna Wintour and the idea to feature the couple and the flaky fashionista dropped Bazaar, leaving the magazine to scramble for a new cover. Cue the eye roll. Vanity Fair’s team considered the idea also, but they were split with many strongly against it.
However, a source said Bazaar’s editor in chief Glenda Bailey wanted a close up shot of Kim K because at the time she was pregnant and looked “overweight.” Obviously that didn’t sit well with the reality diva. Or was this snarky comment by Bailey just a rumor … damage control to make Kim seem less fickle? Who knows! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to tear some pages out of the new issue of my beloved Vogue.
