Head of design at Madewell, Somsack Sikhounmuong, used “an urban setting – the romance, practicality and reality of city dressing,” as inspiration for the RTW Fall collection. The trends of cozy knits, loosened-up and distressed jeans and robust outerwear created a soft, relaxed layer look. Majority of the collection was more of a casual tomboy feel using oversized sweaters and great jackets. The jeans are seen in a dark or ultrableached rinse with higher rise creating an easier fit. While leather jackets are cinched at the waist and paired with languid skirts. To go along with the easy tomboy feel chunky flats and sneakers can be seen, which Madewell made a play for with collaborations with Vans and Saucony.
