Judith Ripka joined Xcel Brands Inc. Ripka first launched her collection in 1977 but it wasn’t until 1997 when Ripka launched a sterling silver line on QVC that Xcel Brand Inc. learned of the chance to acquire the brand. The Ripka brand has four different labels. The White Label is available at Century 21, TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Silver Label is the sterling silver group sold on QVC. Black is sterling silver with hints of the 18 karat gold sold line at Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and Macy’s. Gold is their couture bridge collection featuring jewelry all in 18 karat gold and sold at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. With the Ripka brand now under its umbrella, Xcel’s QVC business including Mizrahi and Liz Claiborne is expected to total $300 million this year.
