We can always expect wild antics and daring fashion at the MTV Movie Awards, and this year’s awards show was no exception as most talked-about moments included host Conan O’Brien’s 50 celebrity cameos, Zac Efron’s ab exposure and a touching tribute to Paul Walker, which brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
Where fashion was concerned, the most surprising moment for me would have to be — Nicki Minaj‘s dress down? Yes, you heard right. Nicki Minaj traded in her extravagant frocks and rainbow colored wigs for a sleek Alexander McQueen look complete with straight black hair and gold jewelry. When crazy dressers dress down, it’s always the thing that gets us, right?
Surprisingly, where fashion was concerned, no one had any super crazy moments, unless you count Rihanna’s pajama outfit. I think Lupita Nyong’o was trying to go for something kooky but — why does everything just look so great on her?
The trends of the evening were color (yellow, pastel blue, pink and more) and black and white, which I never thought would be such a big thing as it was this year at the awards. Take a look at the night’s best fashions below.
Candy coated perfection!!
I’m surprised that Shailene picked this color but…can’t go wrong with Balmain!!
I think this is the best I’ve ever seen Snooki look. I think pregnancy agrees with her.
I think this outfit was meant to be for someone older, but Zendaya gave it a younger, rocker vibe by adding the slit and the clutch.
I thought Saint Laurent was all about the basic black smoking jacket, but they’ve gone and added sparkly color to their creations.
BLACK & WHITE
Ulyana Sergeenko had a moment at these awards dressing both Chrissy Teigen and Rihanna. Ironically, her designs, or what I know of it from her fashion shows, is nothing like what I’d picture at the MTV Movie Awards.
And the award for best shoes goes to…
Who told Rihanna to wear pajamas and a satin bathrobe to these awards?
