Get It Now: Spring Dresses With Sleeves

April 21, 2014 • Get It Now, Magazine

There are so many spring and summer pieces that are sleeveless or have very short cap sleeves – and there are also so many women who would rather not wear not wear something that reveals so much of their arms. Here are some of our favorite options:

Vintage Style

With Mad Men back on the air, going back to classic sixties silhouettes makes perfect sense – and there is a reason these looks became so popular in the first place! This dress with a very flattering peplum from Brooks Brothers would make Joan Holloway proud.

Wrap Dresses

Diane Von Furstenberg got it right. A long sleeved wrap dress in whatever print appeals is an easy way to cover nearly all bases in the spring and summer, and Ralph Lauren also got it right with this deep blue version.

Sleek tailoring, modern fabrics, and bold lines make a flattering and modern shape that’s perfect for spring and summer in almost any year, but especially in 2014. This blue and white frock by Ivy & Maggy might be a perfect example that would work on almost any complexion.

Sleek and Simple

Claire Underwood also got it right. A basic sheath that’s fitted but not tight in a neutral color might be the perfect option for a female executive – or those who aspire to the role. This deep red Zac Posen style is the perfect sexy but elegant sheath for executive ladies – or those who aspire to be. After all, dress for the job you want, not the job you have!

Springtime Florals

Wearing a floral but modern dress like this Alice & Olivia number might be the perfect way to look springy or summery (yes we just made up a word) while still maintaining an urban edge, and it has short sleeves. Add a black cardigan (or possibly purple or turquoise for a bolder look) for more coverage.

Modest but Sexy

Dresses that have long sleeves but a body skimming style, low-cut neckline, a cut-out in the back, or other sensual details allow for a style that’s polished. This Calvin Klein striped maxi-dress with a belt that highlights a slim waist might be the best choice for spring and summer this year.

There’s something to be said for perfectly styled dresses with sleeves, regardless of the season in which it is being worn. However, finding spring and summer dresses with sleeves can be the most complicated, hence the reason for this article. Where are your favorite places to find dresses with sleeves?
