I know we are told we are not supposed to wear a trend again if it was a trend once before in our lifetime and usually I agree with this – case in point – overalls. However, I am breaking this cardinal rule when it come to the drop waist dress. OK, so it was my favorite style in the 80’s and I owned quite a few, but they all had Dynasty-inspired shoulder pads. That was the trend then. This iteration is a little less dramatic and frankly, form flattering and forgiving – especially if you have a had a couple of kids and your 6-pack abs are there somewhere under a layer of skin. I particularly adore the athletic inspired style seen by Chloe and Brunello Cucinelli. I plan on adding a couple of drop waist dresses to my closet this summer. How about you?
