I have always loved a good old, preppy man’s button down. In fact, I used to steal my dad’s worn Brook’s Brother’s shirts and wear them tied at the waist my senior year of high school (hey, it was the 80’s). They were massive on me, but it was a look. My look. Today I still love a blue or pin-striped button down, but cut a little more for my shape. You know, a woman. The massive fit just doesn’t work for me anymore.
If you have not yet heard of the button downs from Frank & Eileen, it’s time to check them out. The selection is insanely massive. You will have a hard time picking just one, trust me. The shirts come in everything from the softest cotton, to denim, to floral, to plaid and pinstripes. What I love most is they are cut for a woman’s shape (more room in the chest) and are meant to be worn wrinkled. Yes, you read that right. Can you imagine tossing your cotton button-down in a ball into your suitcase and then wearing it? The look is – the more wrinkled the better! They are washed with a secret wrinkle rinse and remain permanently wrinkled. If you think you will have a hard time getting used to it, you won’t. I didn’t and my shirts always need to be pressed. At least they did.
I have the white Barry long-sleeve with a single breast pocket and I swear I have been wearing it to death. In fact, I have to get another one, I just can decide on which one!
