Chanel Cruise Dubai

Chanel Takes Dubai

Karl Lagerfeld staged Chanel’s cruise 2015 collection in Dubai last night. Guests traveled to the show in open-air boats and the fashion house created a desert-chic atmosphere with artificial palm trees. After the show, a party took place where singer and musician Janelle Monáe performed. “With the highest building, I thought there was a reason to show the highest fashion, ha-ha-ha-ha,” Lagerfeld said during a fitting on Monday. It’s well known that founder Gabrielle Chanel had a penchant for layering Oriental textiles, and Lagerfeld wanted to honor that. “My job is not to do what she did, but what she could have done,” he explained. “The good thing about Chanel is it’s a spirit you can adapt to many things.” The cruise collection has received high praise, with actress Tilda Swinton noting, “The collection was like a magic carpet ride, very fantastical.”
