Tom Ford Luxury Sneakers for Fall

Tom Ford wants a piece of the luxury sneaker business. The iconic designer has announced he will offer high and low top kicks in seven colors of leather and five in velvet. Each shoe is created in Italian workshops and hand-made by artisan cobblers over a period of three weeks. Retail prices range from $690 to $990 and the sneakers will be available just in time for autumn at Tom Ford stores in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Dallas.

‘Fast Shopping’ Concept Debuted in Europe

French brand Comptoir des Cotonniers has announced it will open 10,000 virtual stores overnight. Dubbed ‘Fast Shopping’, the new retail experience allows customers to make a purchase in 20 seconds on their phone, all thanks to an application. Developed by London-based firm Powa Technologies, it uses a combination of Bluetooth, QR codes, JavaScript, audio sensors and instant payment authentication. The PowaTag app is available for iPhones and Androids and allows shoppers to scan and buy tagged items that they see on bus shelters, café tables, Uber cars, magazines, T-shirts or tote bags. The goods are then delivered within 48 hours. “In effect, all these supports can turn into stores and, by winking at customers, trigger an impulse-buying urge, giving her an experience that- thanks to the application- is totally new,” said Valérie Dassier, head of e-commerce, customer relationship management and customer service at Comptoir des Cotonniers. The app launches today in Paris and let’s hope it’ll be here in the US soon! (Or not- yikes!)
