So pearls and progressive may be two words that typically don’t go together, yet if June Cleaver were to see what is going on with her beloved pearls, she would probably spin in her grave. The current incarnation began on the spring ’14 Chanel runway. Massive pearl chokers, earrings, rings, and bracelets paid homage to Coco Chanel and now pearls are everywhere…and at every price-point. While pearls are typically the epitome of feminine grace and elegance, look for the new interpretations that are decidedly more edgy and less prissy. That’s perfect for me, because my strands of pearls from both my mother and grandmother have been sitting in my jewelry box for years. Add some spikes, crystals and skulls and I’m all over it! I think Coco would approve. Click through the slideshow for some progressive pearl inspiration.
