Galeries Lafayette Opening Italy’s Largest Shopping Attraction
Italy’s largest shopping attraction is a plan in action. Galeries Lafayette is opening a 194,000 square foot flagship store in Westfield Milan. The flagship is due to open in 2017 or 2018 and will feature roughly 300 retail banners and 50 restaurants and entertainment attractions. Westfield Milan is to also include a luxury village, advanced digital technology, touristic and leisure services, and a parking lot accommodating 10,000 cars.
New and Improved H&M
H&M is getting artsy. The retailer’s biggest store in Manhattan is being redesigned to resemble an art museum and teaming up with Jeff Koons. The opening of the redesigned store will take place on July 17, and will overlap with Koons’ retrospective at the Whitney Museum of Art, running June 27 to Oct. 19, which H&M is sponsoring. Koons has even designed a limited edition Balloon Dog handbag for H&M, that will be sold at select markets and online beginning July 17, as well as Koons’ retrospective. The newly designed H&M will be the first to have a full VIP concierge shopping service and will carry all categories, including men’s and women’s apparel, newborn and children’s wear, special sizes, maternity, home goods and more.
