Did you notice a “London-style apothecary” chill in the air last week? A pop-up shop near the corner of Milwaukee and Ashland (1336 N. Milwaukee) hosted everyone’s favorite libation, Hendrick’s Gin, in an unusual event for all the senses last Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Scottish gin company unveiled the “Emporium of the Unusual” featuring a 25-foot tall woman equipped with a tea party underneath her skirt, men on penny-farthing bicycles, wishing wells full of punch and much more. How could you not love that? And I’m not a big gin drinker but the beverages were amazing. Blueberry with a hint of basil and lemonade-style touched with cucumbers added just the right touches without being overwhelming. I can’t wait to try these at home!

We can all look up to this woman… literally.
