For the 2014 edition of jewelry artist Cindy Chao’s Black Label Masterpiece Butterfly, she teamed up with her special friend – Sarah Jessica Parker. The brooch titled Ballerina Butterfly, marks the first collaboration for the designer and her sixth creation within the Masterpiece Butterfly collection. The inspiration for the Ballerina themed brooch comes from Parker’s affiliation with the New York City Ballet and the dichotomy of femininity and strength, which Chao infuses into all her work. The result is a 18-karat body with a 26.27-carat brown diamond, three brown diamond slices weighing 47.71 carats in total. As well as three pieces of conch pearls at 7.25 carats and 4,698 additional diamonds that collectively weigh 98.09 carats. The brooch will make its debut as part of Paris Couture Week and then travel throughout Asia before landing in New York for the New York City Ballet’s Fall Gala. It will eventually be auctioned off in October where it is estimated to go for $750,000-$950,000.
