Target is using new mobile technology to get more out of its print advertising. Called In a Snap, the retailer’s new app for Apple devices uses image recognition to buy items featured in campaigns. “In a Snap recognizes select ads, makes a ‘snap’ sound to let you know when it’s ready, and then shows you additional info about each product in the ad, making them easy to immediately purchase or consider later,” Target said in a statement. The app works with the back-to-college catalogue as well as its Room Essentials ads in Real Simple, Architectural Digest and Domino magazines. Target is considering using the app for future campaigns if it’s popular.
