Donna Karan’s Madison Flagship Closing
Donna Karan’s Manhattan flagship will close on Aug. 31. The store opened in August 2011, and features a zenlike atmosphere. Some details includes a private garden, imported bamboo forest and dramatic staircase. The Manhattan flagship carried Karan’s women’s collection, accessories and home. The designer continues to have collection stores in California, Long Island, Las Vegas, London, Dubai, Kuwait City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Shanghai and Seoul.
“Fashion Rocks” Returning
“Fashion Rocks,” the fashion and music TV special that last aired in 2008, will be returning in September. The show will feature performances by Jennifer Lopez, Duran Duran, Kiss, Miranda Lambert and more. Ryan Seacrest will host live from Barclays Center in Brooklyn this year’s two-hour special, which will air on CBS on September 9th.
American Apparel Inc. Adds Four to Board
American Apparel Inc. has its new board members in place, and that means Dov Charney’s future could be decided soon. The four new designers, with different terms expiring in connection with annual shareholders meeting, are: David Glazek, Thomas J. Sullivan, Colleen B. Brown and Joseph Magnacca. American Apparel and Standard General earlier this month inked an agreement that would give the retailer up to $25 million in funding, provide for a reconstituted board and give Charney the temporary title of strategic consultant.
