The photos up top are more than just a colorful bunch of stylish celebrities in bold prints. They showcase stars who have changed the way they dress. Perhaps these stars are prone to dressing a certain kind of way, or perhaps they’re known for mixing it up. It doesn’t matter because each outfit shows a different side to each celeb, which is one I’m interested in exploring.
Each look makes me do a double take and for good reason. Here’s why:
Pregnancy certainly agrees with this girl! Could it be that a certain maternity glow has caused Ms. Zoe Saldana to swap edgy leather jackets and skinny jeans for a ladylike frock? While still keeping her burgeoning bump under wraps, Zoe Saldana dons a floaty Valentino gown from the label’s Resort 2015 collection. No, it’s not like I’ve never seen Zoe Saldana in color, quite the contrary. But those ruffles – a Saldana first – really suit her. For once, she uses color for femininity and not for making a statement.
It’s true that Rachel McAdams has is no stranger to bold color (remember that Marchesa dress at Cannes 2011?) Nevertheless, her image has her prone to wearing pink dresses and confections of a frothy nature. Enter this drop dead gorgeous Zuhair Murad number with one shoulder sleeve and detailed draping. Hair tightly pulled back and smoky eyes round out the look, which is a far cry from her softer days. We’re a fan of a good girl who likes to go bad sometimes.
Once again, another actress who isn’t prone to color. Rosario Dawson has amazing skin, but she never calls attention to it thanks to dark looks and lots of cleavage. Only recently have we started to see her out of her comfort zone, wearing white and pink and Matthew Williamson prints. This tropical maxi look is a stark contrast to all of the above with what the Daily Mail calls African-style cloth buttons and a green plant print all around. If you’re worried Dawson is going soft, don’t fret. The shaved hair on one side proves she’s not leaving her edginess behind anytime soon.
Since she’s constantly changing it up, I was thinking I could no longer be surprised by an outfit worn by Emma Stone. And then this happened. This is not a look I’d expect from Dolce & Gabbana and it’s certainly not a look I’d expect on Emma Stone. I’m not sure why but perhaps it’s because Stone is quite the trendsetter and this look is more romantic than anything else. Plus Dolce & Gabbana has been using bold religious themes for so long that we forget they are so good at everything else. Still, if you were wondering if Emma was losing her trendsetting ways, she remembers to reel you back in. Take a closer look and you’ll notice this romantic floral piece also has owls among the flowers.
