New York Fashion Week will open with “Salute the Runway,” in the tent at Lincoln Center on Sept 3. The show will bring awareness to the challenges servicewomen face as they transition back to civilian life. The show is sponsored by Little Black Dress Wines and Fatigues to Fabulous, a national campaign that supports women serving in the U.S. military and the issues they face from medical, housing and employment to being appropriately dressed. The 15 servicewomen participating in the runway will model variations of the little black dress from designers like DKNY to Calvin Klein. Along with the little black dress presentation, historic uniforms dating back to World War I will be on display. Donations to Fatigues to Fabulous can be made on the Shout app launching in the U.S. at the Sept. 3, “Salute the Runway” event.
