LVMH Eyeing Proenza Schouler Stake

LVMH is said to be in talks with Proenza Schouler to acquire a stake in the New York-based brand. Discussions are focusing on the purchase of a 40 per cent stake in the brand which was established in 2002 by Jack McCollough and  Lazaro Hernandez, however exact details of the deal are not known, This acquisition would be the latest in a line of high-profile investments by the luxury powerhouse over the last year, following those in Nicholas Kirkwood, JW Anderson and Giuseppe Zanotti.

The World of Rick Owens at Selfridges

The Rick Owens collaboration with Selfridges is set to be unveiled next week. This major collaboration includes a 25-foot statue of the designer’s muscular form that will sit atop the department store’s Oxford Street entrance and the boutique in the store’s Wonder Room represents “what I’d carry into my burial pyramid,” said Owens. The World of Rick Owens, which will run from Monday through Oct. 24, is the “biggest single designer concept that Selfridges has initiated,” said Sebastian Manes, the retailer’s buying director. Manes said the project  “pushed what we all originally felt was achievable in terms of scale, complexity and atmospherics.” The installation will span a concept boutique with products selected by Owens, a temporary women’s wear shop on Selfridges’ first floor and a permanent Rick Owens men’s space also on the first floor, alongside dramatic window displays.

Simon Malls and Refinery29 “The Shopping Block”

Simon Property Group is partnering with Refinery29 to create “The Shopping Block” at six of its properties this fall creating a union between the retail establishment and the web world. The Shopping Blocks will be one-day pop-up mini-marketplaces for Millennials, occupying around 1,600 square feet in the common areas. Products from local and emerging designers and indie boutiques will be featured, as well as national brands selected by Simon and Refinery29. The format will include beauty bars with mini makeovers, sweepstakes for shopping sprees, “stylist concierges” to help Millennials learn about fall trends and where to shop them, DIY stations and local blog influencers.

The Shopping Block will be held at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, N.Y. on Sept. 13; King of Prussia Mall in King of Prussia, Pa. on Sept. 20; South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Mass., on Sept. 27; Miami’s Dadeland Mall on Oct. 4; Houston Premium Outlets in Cypress, Tex., on Oct. 11, and the Brea Mall in Brea, Calif. on Oct. 18.
