Obama Fund Grant Awarded to Manufacture NY
Manufacture New York, a hybrid fashion incubator and factory for independent designers, was named one of 50 national winners out of 800 applications nationwide of a U.S. Small Business Administration award. They will receive a $50,000 grant as part of an Obama administration Growth Accelerator Fund competition looking to invest in job creators.
Fashion Crowd Invited to Apple
Apple Inc. invited top fashion editors and bloggers in unprecedented numbers to its launch gala today which is further evidence the iPhone maker is preparing to unveil a smartwatch. Apple is forging closer ties to the fashion world as it makes its way into the field of wearable technology, with hopes to win over a critical crowd that may be crucial to their success. A smartwatch would represent chief executive officer Tim Cook’s first real new product since taking the role of Steve Jobs.
Gebhard Rainer New Coach President
Gebhard Rainer has been appointed President and CEO of Coach Inc. Rainer was most recently Executive Vice President and CFO of Hyatt Hotels Corp. and had previously served as managing director of Hyatt’s business in the Europe, Africa and Middle East regions. “Gebhard’s talent and outstanding operational track record make him a strong addition to the Coach management team,” said Victor Luis, CEO of Coach Inc. “He is highly regarded for his strategic focus, team leadership, keen analytical and technical skills and exceptional business acumen.”
