Yahoo’s Style Channel Launches

Yahoo’s new Style channel helmed by Joe Zee launched last week at the start of New York Fashion Week. However, there was a glitch during a six-hour Fashion Week live-stream at The James Hotel overlooking the Hudson River. While Zee chatted with Veronica Webb and co-host Katharine Zarrella of, the wind messed with the sound and the live-stream’s picture only worked on smartphones and Chrome or Firefox. As proven by the the ominous start, Yahoo Style is admittedly still in its early days. Zee has said he aims to use the site to “democratize fashion.” During segments and live-streams, viewers are encouraged to submit questions via social media or tweet to the Yahoo team members.

Louboutin Documentary Debuts

Model Farida Khelfa, Christian Louboutin’s longtime friend, debuted her 52-minute documentary last night at a screening in Paris. To make the film, she followed in the beloved shoe designer’s footsteps for two years. Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, who attended the screening, said he “loved” the film, which also features fashionable celebrities like Blake Lively and Alicia Keys. The documentary will air on the Arte channel on September 27th at 10:30 pm as part of a weekend of fashion programs, which will also include documentaries about Balmain, Diana Vreeland, top models and a Berlin fashion school. When Khelfa was asked about her Louboutin collection, she said “I have some which are truly vintage – without the red sole, from his first collection, and I can tell you: I’m keeping those.”

Serena Williams Shows HSN Collection

Tennis champ Serena Williams presented her Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection on the catwalk yesterday. The 22-piece collection for fall features chic blouses, leggings, draped cardigans and quilted vests and was available on directly after the runway show. Williams will appear on HSN to present the collection September 16th. Prices range from $29.90 to $79.90. “I went to school for fashion design. For years, I’ve been designing all my tennis clothes. I’ve been doing this particular collection [for HSN] for five years. It isn’t overnight. This is the first time we’re showcasing it in a fashion show,” explained Williams.
