It’s Official: John Galliano Joins Margiela
The rumors are indeed true. John Galliano, fashion’s most controversial designer, is taking over creative direction at Maison Martin Margiela. He will take over the design leadership of the fashion house’s lines, including couture and women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections. His first designs will be seen in January during Paris Couture Week. “Margiela is ready for a new charismatic creative soul. John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time- a unique, exceptional couturier for a maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion. I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create, and wish him to here find his new home,” said Renzo Rosso, president of Margiela’s parent company OTB. Galliano has been lying low since being fired from both Dior and his signature fashion house in 2011.
Chanel Planning Salzburg Show
Karl Lagerfeld will stage his next Métiers d’art collection for Chanel in Salzburg, Austria at an 18th-century Rococo palace. Chanel’s Métiers d’art shows are held in cities that are important to the fashion house’s history. Chanel recently traveled to Dallas and Edinburgh for shows.
