On Wednesday, the Chicago Cultural Center was filled with young, talented designers from Sanford-Brown College. The school’s junior, senior and graduate fashion designers staged a dramatic runway show, titled Revolution. Many of the unique designs were inspired by pop-art. Also included in the show were local designers Javonica Sapp and Mamie Kapend’s bridal and African print collections.
This event is part of Fashion Focus: Chicago’s Fashion Week, October 14-19, a citywide celebration of Chicago’s fashion industry. In 2006, the City of Chicago launched Fashion Focus Chicago, an initiative to foster and elevate the business of fashion in Chicago. Fashion Focus provides mentorships and educational opportunities with industry experts – and creates promotional opportunities for designers through programming and vending opportunities at city festivals and industry events.
