My buddy Brandon Sun was at Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue recently with his gorgeous fall 214 and spring 2015 collections. I call him “my buddy” because I hung out with him for hours at a Neiman Marcus trunk show a few years ago, where I styled a mannequin with one of his fabulous shearling coats. He is sweet, funny, playful and oh-so-talented! Take a look at the intricacies of his pieces. His black and white pieced leather skirt and top are a Second City Style favorite, and we showed it as an example of a great B&W fall trend.
I asked Brandon for an update on what he’s been up to. He is bridging the gap between his ready-to-wear and his couture pieces. He is known for furs and shearlings and our Michigan Avenue Neiman Marcus always carries a nice selection, but the San Francisco store has his RTW and you can order pieces from there.
His fall collection includes a large use of Swarovski crystals. He said a lot of intense and laborious work goes into producing these pieces. They are totally collectable. One of my favorite pieces is a navy shearling topper with Swarovski crystals. I told Brandon I would wear it with jeans or over a skirt or dress. “Exactly!” he said. “My pieces are designed so a woman can wear them any way she chooses.”
