Kate Moss & British Vogue Partner Again
Supermodel Kate Moss is the face of the December issue of British Vogue, which hits newsstands Thursday. Marking the model’s 36th appearance on the cover, the images were shot by famed photographer Mario Testino. Moss appears fresh-faced, and she’s wearing her signature smoky eye makeup on the alternate cover. She is also a contributing fashion editor role at the magazine, recently working with photographer David Bailey to shoot husband Jamie Hince and Topshop owner Sir Philip Green. Tim Walker also worked with Moss when she styled a shoot featuring sister Lottie Moss, model Suki Waterhouse and singer Beth Ditto.
J. Crew to Expand in Europe
J.Crew continuing with an expansion in Europe. It was announced that two new stores are planned for Paris, where the American brand has yet to have a presence. A fifth store will also open in London. The Parisian stores will carry both women’s and men’s clothing, however the new London space will carry womenswear exclusively. “Paris is one of the great fashion and consumer cities in the world, and lots of French customers are shopping in our New York stores- it wasn’t a difficult choice,” said J. Crew chairman and chief executive Mickey Drexler. France is reportedly among the top countries that shop J. Crew online. The French locations will be located in restored, historic buildings.
H&M Opens Philippines Location
Swedish retailer H&M has opened its first store in the Philippines. Located in Manila, a city entering a retail growth period, H&M joins Zara, Topshop, Uniqlo, Forever 21 and Mango in the Mega Fashion Hall wing of the SM Megamall complex. This is the 55th country H&M has a store in, according to CEO Karl-Johan Persson. “We’ve been looking at the Philippines for a number of years. We’ve known for a long time that it’s a super-interesting market,” he explained. Industry experts say Manila has Asia’s best performing economy.
