There’s the wool pea coat and then there’s the oversize plaid shirt. Which fall trends are you trying this season?
For celebrities, it’s all about making a statement and looking good, too. Which begs the question: Which unique trends for fall work for these celebs and which truly…DON’T? Stars like Olivia Palermo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Bosworth, and Lupita Nyong’o are trendsetters who are always doing something different. But do their looks work for fall? Or do they work at all?
Let’s take a look.
Olivia Palermo – Black Fringe Bag
When Olivia Palermo puts an outfit together, she pays attention to every detail including colors, textures, and accessories, too. If you thought the royal blue coat, black leather pants and red studded flats (with a hint of animal print) were enough to take this trendy fall outfit to the next level – think again. The black fringe bag that matches the pants truly takes this outfit to the next level. Yet would you try such a statement-making accessory at home?
Gwyneth Paltrow – Plaid
We’ve come to learn that plaid shirts are a key fall staple. But Gwyneth Paltrow truly makes her plaid statement truly an out-of-the-box moment by mixing dressy and casual by tucking her tomboyish Equipment plaid shirt into a dressy black skirt. Gwyneth can surely pull this off, but the question remains – can anybody else?
Kate Bosworth – Oversize Buffalo Check
There’s oversize – great for cozying up in colder months – and then there’s buffalo check. The buffalo check print isn’t a common one like floral or houndstooth but its making its rounds this season. Kate Bosworth puts two and two together to come up with a unique, yet slightly madcap trend known as oversize buffalo check. Not only is the red Coach coat a statement piece but those buffalo checks are as big as the girl herself and the black underneath keeps the entire look streamlined and still sophisticated.
Lupita Nyong’o – Rich Autumn Tones
Is it possible for Lupita to make anything look bad? I don’t think so! The 12 Years a Slave actress and sought after fashionista is the perfect autumn “IT” girl wearing colors that scream fall and yet, aren’t the normal fall hues. Rich purple mixed with mustard yellow and cloudy pink says autumn like no other with no green, blue or red in sight.
