Ralph Lauren Ricky bag with light

Ralph Lauren Has It In the Bag

This week, Ralph Lauren is unveiling the third leg in its bid to position itself as fashion’s premier tech company with the “Ricky bag with light,” a variation on the signature leather top-handle bag, named after Mr. Lauren’s wife, that comes with an internal LED, as well as a built-in USB charger for a smartphone. The bag, which was code-named Ultimate, has been in development for roughly eight months. It is handmade in Italy from 50 pieces of leather and rose gold hardware, lined in purple nappa (a nod to Ralph Lauren Purple label, its top-end men’s collection) and takes about 12 hours to create.

The bag will debut on limited release for the gift-giving period — a mere 10 Ralph Lauren shops will have samples available for special order — and then go on wider distribution in February. Price? It’s $5,000. The regular Ricky 33 bag is $3,500.

Victoria Beckham Partners With Nails Inc.

Victoria Beckham is launching a limited-edition nail-polish collection with Nails Inc. for her Victoria Victoria Beckham line. The partnership, which will prelaunch on nailsinc.com starting on Monday, will roll out to stores in February. It marks her product debut in the color cosmetics market.

The assortment will include a classic hue called Nearly Nude, Beckham’s go-to shade for all her runway shows, and a tomato red, named The New Red, which matches her Japanese-inspired spring collection. Also, instead of using Nails Inc.’s usual clear bottles, which were designed by Fabien Baron, Beckham chose one matte-white bottle and one matte-black bottle that have a matching cap and side windows that reveal the actual nail color.
