Coach to Debut Men’s Collection

Stuart Vevers will make his men’s wear debut for Coach next month. Taking place at London Collections: Men, the creative director is set to show the new ready-to-wear collection. “This is the first big step in the right direction for men. I want to create something that will have an impact and make people sit up and take notice,” Vevers said. The collection will consist of around 20 pieces with a focus on outerwear, but will include men’s apparel. An assortment of leather goods, jewelry and shoes will also be shown. On why he chose to show in London, Vevers explained, “London is the standard-bearer of classic men’s style, but always encourages the next generation of talent. Though Coach is American to the core, that juxtaposition is the essence of our brand: blending the established with the cool.”

John Galliano Showing Margiela in London

John Galliano will show his first couture collection for Maison Martin Margiela in London next month. In a statement, Margiela said the debut collection will be presented “exceptionally” in the British capital “around tea time.” He also said the choice of the city was personal, and noted Galliano’s “formative years and his beginnings in the industry – and it is intrinsically related to the city’s traditional tailoring history and heritage.” Around 100 people have been invited to the event, including editors and friends of Galliano. A Margiela spokesman said the collection would also be presented by appointment during Paris couture week in January.

Abercrombie CEO Retires

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. announced controversial CEO, Michael Jeffries, has retired. In the meantime, the company will be overseen by the newly established office of the chairman, headed by Arthur Martinez. Jeffries addressed his company in a statement, “It has been an honor to lead this extraordinarily talented group of people. I am extremely proud of your accomplishments. I believe now is the right time for new leadership to take the company forward in the next phase of its development.”
