Equinox Group Fitness Manager Jennifer Hogg (one of my favorite trainers at Equinox in Chicago) shared some of the fitness trends she sees for 2015.
Digital Engagement – Looking beyond just the overflow of generic online workout videos, consumers will be looking for more customized and personalized interaction through multiple digital devices and looking for high level expertise to curate their workout programs.
Revisit HIIT – Although HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is not going anywhere, we will see an evolution including some new approaches. Recent science combined with reliable long term science shows us that the excessive participation we are currently witnessing is unsustainable. Watch for programs that begin to move away from the randomness and excessiveness of HIIT and bringing focus to recovery-based training and a balanced, sustainable approach to training.
Bodyweight Training – This trend has quickly gained real traction. Expect to see it continue to expand in all movement experiences including both group and personal training. Look for the comprehensive incorporation of gymnastics, adult jungle gyms, workout spaces that are uncluttered with weight training machines and open for training, greater suspension training options, primal movements, and more programming that is less focused on standard weight lifting protocols.
Stay tuned for a fabulous and fun new group training class launching at Equinox January 1st called … Elimn8tor!
Make you plans now for your fitness in the new year.
