Edward Enninful

Few fashion editors today have made the kind of mark on the fashion world as Edward Enninful. He started working at 18 when and became Fashion Director at i-D magazine — a notably young age for such a post. The position made him the youngest editor at a major international magazine. Enninful has made considerable strides in the industry ever since. In 1998, he became a Contributing Fashion Editor for Vogue Italia, and held the same position at American Vogue from 2005 to 2011, then he became Fashion and Style Director at W magazine. He brought relevance and youth to a high–fashion magazine that had struggled in the early-2000s.

Enninful was honored at the British Fashion Awards last month with the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, well-deserved praise for someone who has helped shape and promote fashion for 30 years.

Enninful has helped with ad campaigns and runway shows for major fashion houses from Christian Dior to Mulberry and Comme des Garcons. He has supported minority models in the fashion industry, working with Vogue Italia on their black models only issue in 2008 and finding inspiration from the Harlem renaissance for a Prada installation in Milan last year. He has done all of this while remaining one of the friendliest people to work with in the fashion industry. He is known for his charisma and ability to become best friends with everyone who crosses his path. Pair that with his beautiful, narrative fashion spreads and boundless creativity, and it’s no wonder why he is an inspiration.
