Jeremy Scott Creates Fragrance for Adidas
Jeremy Scott’s quirky sneakers with molded plastic wings have inspired his first scent for Adidas called Jeremy Scott for Adidas Originals. A limited edition of 10,000 bottles is due out worldwide starting in February in Adidas Originals stores and other select doors. The unisex scent includes notes of Calabrian bergamot, incense, white pepper and cashmere wood. The fragrance bottle is shaped like Scott’s sneaker design with detachable wings. Outer packaging takes the form of a shoebox. In the U.S., the 75-ml. eau de toilette is to retail for $105.
Max Factor Names Marilyn Monroe Ambassador
Max Factor has named Marilyn Monroe as its global glamour ambassador. The company credited makeup artist Max Factor Jr. with her transformation from Norma Jeane Mortenson to a platinum-blonde Marilyn Monroe. The Marilyn Monroe campaign will see Max Factor spotlight products that reflect Monroe’s Forties and Fifties look. They include its Ruby Tuesday Color Elixir lipstick, a modern interpretation of Monroe’s favorite shade of red; False Lash Effect Mascara and Facefinity foundation.
Starting Tuesday, Max Factor will globally launch television, print and online ads and social-media activity featuring images of Monroe in both her Norma Jeane and film-star guises. The ads also will fit in with Max Factor’s social-media campaign, #GlamJan, which aims to inspire women to “undergo a personal glamour transformation” in January, taking their cues from Monroe’s own evolution. The campaign will be led by McGrath and Max Factor’s faces, including the model Candice Swanepoel.
Swarovski Launches Wearables
Earlier this week, Swarovski unveiled its first take on wearable tech. The Activity Tracking Crystal was designed in collaboration with Misfit Wearables and is the focal point of Swarovski’s Shine wearable collection. It can count a wearer’s steps, track sleep patterns and measure distance traveled and calories burned. The tracking crystal is compatible with any of the nine accessories in the Swarovski Shine range and will sync with a Swarovski smartphone app.
Prices start at $69 for a wrap bracelet adorned with Swarovski crystals (not including the tracking crystal) and go to up to $249 for a set that contains the tracking crystal, a Swarovski Vio crystal pendant and a silicone sport band. The Vio pendant is reversible and can be worn with or without the tracking device. It’s also sold on its own for $149. Two other pendant styles are sold separately and will retail for $125 and $149. Other options that include the tracking crystal are a $169 set with a wrap bracelet and a silicone sport band and a $199 set with a crystallized silicon band and a sport band.
The collection is available for pre-sale at misfit.com, with orders set to be fulfilled at the end of March. Come spring, Swarovski Shine will be sold at misfit.com, swarovski.com and Swarovski retail doors in the U.S., Hong Kong and China.
