Actors honoring actors…it’s the Screen Actors Guild Awards! After being surprised and amazed by the incredible looks at the Producers Guild Awards and realizing just how much coverage the Screen Actors Guild Awards was getting this year (livestreaming definitely has something to do with it) I was definitely expecting a lot. But alas, the SAGs were a disappointment in the fashion department. As I scrolled through my Twitter feed, it became clear to me. The biggest publications were calling all the looks…boring, boring, boring! Yes, we got those jaw-dropping moments (hello, Lupita!) but was it an overall success? I’m not so sure. Nevertheless, there were some great looks. Here they are:
I think I’m a little biased here, because jade green is my favorite color. But the only girls who actually work the color, looked smashing in it, and they’re my picks for best dressed at the SAGs.
In fact, I think this is the best Claire Danes has ever looked!
This digital print Elie Saab dress is a real head scratcher. It’s really busy and all over the place. But if there’s anyone that can pull off the look – it’s Lupita Nyong’o! Lupita always looks gorgeous and in the past, her look has been elegant, yet experimental. As the years pass, she’s gone even more experimental but let’s hope the elegant doesn’t go away.
The Orange is the New Black group was probably the best dressed group at the awards show this year. But one girl stood out, and it was probably because she DIDN’T wear Christian Siriano like the rest of the girls. Natasha Lyonne shined in silver and cream embroidered Proenza Schouler with a black crepe skirt.
I missed seeing prints on the red carpet, so Natalie Dormer really stood out for me in this beautiful floral Naeem Khan creation.
Winter white? Yep! This was one white-hot trend on the red carpet. (OK. I’ll stop now.)
Also, all shades of blue made the rounds – but while I appreciated the trend, it was a bit more demure than I was hoping for, even with the sequins and ruffles involved.
I actually prefer Emilia Clarke with darker or lighter hair. It looks washed out here, and unfortunately, the entire outfit is dull.
In a surprise turn, Jennifer Aniston plucked a vintage Galliano, AND that darn body chain. Why again, Jen, why? You were doing so well!
