Whether you want to to supplement your exercise regimen, try something new, or need to get in gear on a training program, these high-energy interval training classes are right for anyone!
Second City Style had the opportunity recently to try a work out class with TRAINology founder and trainer Micheal Wollpert at a special event hosted by Gilt City Chicago. Michael explained how TRAINology takes traditional High Intensity Training (H.I.T.), combines it with a heart-rate tracking system (MyZone) and designed classes to meet the needs of any fitness level. These classes help burn fat and build cardio strength to improve overall fitness. The workouts are 45 or 60 minutes, alternating between cardio and strength segments. They offer TRAINology, HIKEology, GLIDEology, GLIDE/HIKE and TRACKology classes and more.
We tried GLIDE/HIKE which included use of Freemotion Incline trainers (-3 degree decline to + 30 degree incline) and glide boards (the kind that make you feel like a speed skater). We alternated between Gliding and Hiking in 2 sets of 10 minutes. Micheal instructed us to use various hiking levels and speeds on the incline trainer. We could either go at our own pace or get motivated to climb faster, but just like climbing a high hill, there is no easy way! Then we worked out on the glide boards, but not without some planks and core work on the slippery surface to boot! This class was an intense fat burning and muscle toning workout!
