Karl Lagerfeld Launching Children’s Line

Karl Lagerfeld is set to launch a signature children’s collection for spring 2016 and has signed a license agreement with France’s Groupe CWF. The iconic designer’s new line will be offered for boys and girls from newborn up to 16 years old. The collection will also include accessories and have two seasonal offerings a year. Pier Paolo Righi, president and CEO of Karl Lagerfeld, said the expansion into the juniors market is “a natural fit” given the brand’s “cool, ironic” personality. Europe, the Middle East and Korea are the key markets for the kid’s line.

Walmart Opening More Canadian Stores

Target may be closing up shop in Canada, but Walmart is making a bigger commitment there. The retailer announced plans to open 29 new Supercenters, costing $240 million. The new locations are all expected to open this year. Walmart is also expanding its ecommerce site. By the end of 2015, the retailer will have 396 locations in Canada.

Pantone’s Top Colors for Fall

Pantone’s Top 10 fall color list for women and men have a Seventies vibe and feature earth tones. According to Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman, this isn’t surprising because currently there are many similarities to that decade. “Even though the economy seems to be on the upswing, still there are those who are feeling insecure about significant world events, both politically and ecologically. The Seventies were also a time when the public was emerging from a recession [in the early part of the decade]. There also was a growing interest in the preservation of nature. Utilizing earth tones gives people a sense of rootedness and grounding, similar to what people were feeling the need for in the Seventies,” Eiseman said. “The consumer wants to feel comfortable, more balanced and not so abstract. It is an evolving color landscape, but it is a subtle evolution,” she added. Check out Pantone’s top picks below.
