CFDA Awards, More Nominees

After New York Fashion Week is over, attendees better get well rested. The Council of Fashion Designers of America have announced that there will be five and not three nominees for the Womenswear, Menswear and Accessories Designer of the Year categories at this year’s CFDA Awards. Nomination ballots will be sent out Friday to the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards Guild, which has a tremendous 1,500 members. The winners will be announced on June 1, at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards at Alice Tully Hall in New York.

Adidas Searches for New CEO

German sportswear company Adidas is searching for a new successor after many investors call Herbert Hainer to step down after his contract was extended to 2017. Hainer has had the position since 2001, and after hearing about the search has wrote to staff confirming the move. “The supervisory board will now start to look for the best possible candidate for my succession both inside and outside the Adidas group,” he wrote. “This will be a long-term process that has just begun.”

Christopher Kane Opens First Store

British designer Christopher Kane has opened his first shop on Mount Street. Designers such as: Jenny Packham, Roland Mouret and Nicholas Kirkwood also call this street home. The 4,100 square foot shop opens today and spans over two floors. The shop was designed by Kane and the minimalist architect John Pawson.
