The Children's Place Plaid Shirts

It may  not feel like spring, but there is no time like the present to be prepared. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but spring has to be just around the corner. Right?

The Children’s Place has a wide range of styles kids want at prices parents love. The spring collection is now in stores and offers dressy looks in addition to colorful basics for the season. Now, I can only speak from the boy’s perspective (as that’s all I have), but over the past 5 years, The Children’s Place has become on of my go-to stores for spring/summer basics. So when I was tasked with creating some looks for my boys, and provide styling tips… I already had some ideas in mind.

These cargo shorts rock!

These cargo shorts rock! Essential in every color.

Boys denim at $10 a pair and in several cuts and colors are a no-brainer.

As you can see from above I already know what my boys like. The Children’s Place pull-on cargo shorts we buy every spring in literally ever color. The elastic waist makes them indispensable and a summer staple. At roughly $13 a pair (they are usually on sale) you can stock up too. As for the denim, at normally $10 a pair, I buy them in every cut and color imaginable. We have tried several brands of denim and I can attest these fit the best. The Children’s Place denim has an adjustable waist with a bigger adjustment range than most other denim brands. My older son is tall and skinny so normally jeans fall off him. These adjust to fit him perfectly.

It’s amazing how much I bought for my two guys for $150! I had an additional 20% off coupon and $5 in membership rewards which I used as well. Some of the items were already on sale like the camouflage pants and the gingham shirts. My older son loves ties (so he can look like Daddy) so I just had to get him one!

I bought all of this for about $150!

I had to buy a pair of sweatpants for my younger son. He loves them.

I now really only buy denim for my older son, as I already have the hand-me-downs for the younger one.

Fashion Tips for Spring:

The Children's Place for boys

They obviously did not want to pose!

1. Let your child’s personality shine through. The same clothes on two children can look completely different. My older son has to wear a belt at all times and loves a tie (he’s Alex P. Keaton). My younger son is always untucked and basically a mess, so we go with it. Thankfully the untucked, layered look is in!

2. Dress up their denim. Jeans have become completely acceptable pretty much everywhere and are extremely versatile. My older son will not wear anything but jeans to school, but some days I put him in a dressier shirt and sweater with a darker hued denim and other days just a t-shirt with sweatshirt with a lighter shade pair.

3. Shorts almost always fit. I love these cargo shorts because no matter how tall my guys get, they fit! I have yet to see a pair of these shorts on any child that are too short. Pants on the other hand are a different story. Floods make me crazy and in our household, the fit can change seemingly overnight.
