Gucci Showing Cruise in New York

Gucci is set to show its Cruise Collection in New York on June 4th. The Italian fashion house will show the collection under new creative direction of Alessandro Michele. Details, including venue information, are still being planned. Michele succeeded Frida Giannini in January and unveiled his first women’s collection for the brand at Milan Fashion Week last month. The last time Gucci held a cruise show in New York was 2006.

Established Launches Fine Jewelry

Los Angeles-based bag designer Nikki Erwin has launched of a fine jewelry line, called Established. Erwin was Jennifer Meyer’s first employee when she launched her jewelry line 11 years ago. Demi Moore, Gwen Stefani, Molly Sims and Hilary Duff all celebrated the launch at Soho House West Hollywood. At the party, Rachel Zoe swooned over a rose gold and diamond razor blade-shaped necklace while Meyer said, “I’m into it. I can’t wait to purchase a few of the pieces. I love what she’s doing.” The edgy collection is Art Deco-meets-rocker and includes rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and anklets. Prices range from $225 to $28,000 and pieces are currently available for order on Erwin’s website.

Internet Sales Tax Bill Introduced

The ongoing fight to close an ‘internet sales tax loophole’ was revived on Capitol Hill yesterday. Bipartisan senators introduced the bill, called the Marketplace Fairness Act, which allows states to collect taxes on online and sales. The bill involves the forty-five states that currently collect sales tax and the District of Columbia. If the bill passes, it will affect retailers whether they have a physical presence in a state or not. Remote sellers with less than $1 million in annual nationwide sales are exempt.
