Chinese designer Huishan Zhang has teamed up with Barneys New York to create a four piece capsule collection inspired by the theme of this year’s Met Gala: “China: Through the Looking Glass.” The collection features four intricate gowns with delicate flower embroidery made by intertwining 8 shapes. Zhang chose to design the gowns in black, ivory and bright red – colors that he feels reflect his Chinese roots. The designer hinted that he is creating custom pieces for some of the gala’s attendees, although he wouldn’t reveal whom. The capsule collection retails from $2,495 to $7,800 at Barneys New York stores and Barneys.com.
The Met Gala will be held on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and will be hosted by Anna Wintour, Jennifer Lawrence and other big names in the entertainment industry. Other celebrities rumored to be attending include Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Blake Lively, Carey Mulligan, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon and Cara Delevingne.
